Hunter, 7:13 PM

Here we are.

Hunter, 7:14 PM

Okay, one more thing real quick here.

Hunter, 7:16 PM

All right, got it.

Hunter, 7:18 PM

Spring has sprung in the St. Benedict-Navarre metropolitan area, by which I mean, of course, that it snowed overnight, a nasty, howling blizzard with the kind of heavy, wet snow they call "heart attack snow."

Hunter, 7:19 PM

But as always, the sun came up in the morning and now that it's mid-afternoon, most of the snow has melted, leaving everybody feeling very stupid for wearing their heavy woolen winter cloaks.

Hunter, 7:20 PM

Because some of the streets and alleys have been used to store the remaining half-melted snirt, traffic is particularly bad here in the inner city. Fortunately, all the roads here in town are paved--if you've come from outside of town, you  likely weren't so lucky and may have mud up to your ankles or, if you're not terribly tall,  your knees.

Hunter, 7:21 PM

The muddy streets have slowed everything down, even the fancy wheelless wagons rich people use that are built around floating disk spells and cost half a fortune.

Hunter, 7:22 PM

It's around 7 p.m. when all three of you end up outside a tiny, ramshackle old building with a very incongruous sleek black sign, with plain letters proclaiming it to be "Lovely Creatures."

Hunter, 7:23 PM

If you look closely at the sign, there might be a silvery serpent twined around the L, but it also might just be a clump of sparkly snow. The damn stuff gets everywhere.

Hunter, 7:24 PM

None of you have seen this place before, or maybe you just didn't notice it if you walked by here previously.

Pharolvir, 7:25 PM

Pharolvir is hitching up his skirt to avoid the nasty, muddy snirt everywhere.

Hunter, 7:25 PM

It is horrible stuff, and his shoes are probably ruined.

Hunter, 7:25 PM

Introduce yourselves and describe yourselves, please!

Chance, 7:30 PM

Chance is a grey furred tabaxi with a worn, patched leather long coat and a long, thick tail.  He has golden eyes and has several old scars crisscrossing his face, though he seems young as tabaxi go.

Pharolvir, 7:30 PM

Pharolvir is a drow man in what seems to be a rather expensive dress below some scale mail armor pieces that do not seem to have been made for him and don't quite fit properly and a pair of once very nice boots.  His face is made up, but in a not particularly showy way, he has a satchel over his shoulder, a crossbow at his hip and his long hair is tied into a braid with a blue flower holding it at the end.  He's a fairly small and thin man who seems to be dressed as someone with a certain amount of wealth.

???, 7:31 PM

??? slowly and carefully uses her quarter staff to stand up from some bushes right to the side of the building.  She looks to be a wood elf with copper skin and hair and rough leather armor.  And what looks like the remains of a wooden shield kind of strapped to one arm.Which is hard to see because she is covered in mud and looks quite beaten up.

Hunter, 7:32 PM

It's chilly out here, and the door does have a sign on that says, very unassumingly, "Open."

Pharolvir, 7:33 PM

Pharolvir will enter and begin wiping his feet on the first thing available to him.  "Gross gross gross."

Chance, 7:33 PM

Chance steps in gives himself a shake.

Pharolvir, 7:33 PM

Pharolvir shields himself from the splatterings Chance shakes off.  "HEY!"

???, 7:33 PM

??? will limp inside following the others kind of confusedly.

Hunter, 7:34 PM

You step inside!

Hunter, 7:34 PM

… into what looks like an entirely different building.

Hunter, 7:35 PM

It's significantly larger than the building outside, with black matte painted walls, black wood paneling on the lower half of those walls, and with immaculate white floors with not a trace of mud on them.

Hunter, 7:35 PM

You DID just step onto a black rug, which is a little bit... strange.

Hunter, 7:36 PM

You sink into the rug a little bit, about an inch, and you feel an odd pressure on the bottoms of your feet.

Hunter, 7:36 PM

In front of you, there's a bar made of silvery metal, with black stools; there are also silvery tables in a more dining-room style seating area, with black chairs.

Hunter, 7:37 PM

There are windows too, but much larger than the windows you saw from outside, with a great deal of light streaming in from outside--more light than there actually WAS outside, in fact.

Hunter, 7:38 PM

The room is lit by globe-shaped light spells affixed to the ceiling, and everything in the room has a sleek, modern air that is also maybe a little bit sterile and stark.

Pharolvir, 7:38 PM

Pharolvir blinks from the light.  "GAH!  Bright.  Very bright."

Hunter, 7:38 PM

Even the person at the bar is a sleek and modern-looking--a pretty person of indeterminate gender with long, silvery hair in traditional elven braids, wearing immaculate white robes. He looks bored.

Hunter, 7:39 PM

You don't see anyone else in the place.

Chance, 7:39 PM

…. unexpected.

Hunter, 7:39 PM

There is a roaring fire on one side of the room, though, in a big, black, very plain fireplace, and it's a little dimmer over there.

Pharolvir, 7:39 PM

Pharolvir leans down to inspect the rug.

Pharolvir, 7:41 PM

((Can I get a sense what the rug's doing?))

Hunter, 7:41 PM

It looks like it's kinda sucking on your feet.

Hunter, 7:42 PM

The barman notices you and brightens a bit. "Good evening, what can I get for you?"

Chance, 7:43 PM

Coffee, please.  Very much cream and sugar.

???, 7:43 PM

I don’t know.

Pharolvir, 7:43 PM

Pharolvir tries lifting his foot.

???, 7:44 PM

??? steps off the carpet and moves more into the building

Hunter, 7:44 PM

It takes a little bit of effort, but not much, to step off the carpet or lift your foot away from it.

Hunter, 7:45 PM

The barman nods, smiling. "Well, take a few minutes to decide, if you want. We have a pretty good variety."

Hunter, 7:45 PM

The rug makes a gentle schlorrrrrp noise as you depart it, with not a single speck of mud or dirt anywhere on your shoes. They are totally clean, as if they were brand-new.

Pharolvir, 7:46 PM

"....whoa.  That's cool!"

Hunter, 7:48 PM

The barman pours a cup of coffee out of a sleek black pitcher, and then, using the black pitcher, pours cream into a creamer. He has to fetch Chance the sugar, which is in a matching black bowl, though.

Hunter, 7:48 PM

Barman: Thank you, my brother made it.

Chance, 7:48 PM

Chance sidles up to the bar and has a seat, and puts way too much sugar and cream into the coffee.

Pharolvir, 7:49 PM

"...men make magic items?!?"

Hunter, 7:49 PM

The barman, who is a man, albeit a fairly androgynous one, blinks. "... yes? Well, Tython does, anyway. Never had the knack for it myself."

Pharolvir, 7:50 PM

Pharolvir looks up and beams.

???, 7:51 PM

??? will wander over to a window and look out

Pharolvir, 7:51 PM

Pharolvir will go over and look at the cup.  "...what's that?"

Chance, 7:52 PM

Cream and sugar with some coffee.

Hunter, 7:52 PM

There's no city outside. Instead, the window looks out over a beautiful lake, still partly iced over. It's still snowing out there, very lightly.

Hunter, 7:53 PM

Barman: I'm Verandis, by the way. Welcome to Lovely Creatures. In retrospect the soft opening may have been a bad idea.

Pharolvir, 7:55 PM

Pharolvir will curtsey to Verandis.  "I am Pharolvir Tarsyn Elisar, of House Elisar.  Pleasure to meet you.  Do you have tea?"

Hunter, 7:56 PM

Verandis: Of course. What kind would you like?

Pharolvir, 7:56 PM

"Do you have sweet moss?  I don't like anything too bitter."

Hunter, 7:57 PM

Verandis: Hmm, I'll have to crack open Shihan's stash for that.

Hunter, 7:57 PM

Verandis: But he won't mind.

???, 7:58 PM

What’s the forest outside?

Hunter, 7:58 PM

Verandis grabs another mug and uses the same black pitcher to fill it, handing it off to Pharolvir.

Hunter, 7:59 PM

Verandis: Hm? Let me see, here... oh, it's the lake entrance. Maldil Forest.

Hunter, 8:00 PM

The corners of his mouth turn down a bit, and he shakes his head.

Pharolvir, 8:00 PM

Pharolvir sips the tea, cautiously.

Hunter, 8:01 PM

The tea is pretty good! It seems authentic and delicate, and it was probably expensive.

???, 8:01 PM

Something wrong with the forest?

Hunter, 8:01 PM

Verandis: We also have hard and soft ciders, or I could make you up a hot toddy if you prefer? Oh, the woods.

Hunter, 8:02 PM

Verandis: Nothing urgent, anyway. It's a bit of a wildland out there, that's all.

Pharolvir, 8:03 PM

"Mmmm, this is good.  What's a hot toddy?"

Chance, 8:04 PM

You have rooms, yes?

Hunter, 8:06 PM

Verandis: Whiskey, water, honey, a stick of cinnamon and a squeeze of lemon.

Hunter, 8:06 PM

Verandis: We do have rooms, yes. Quite a few of them. We haven't really got that side up and running yet, but there's plenty of space and several rooms are made up and ready for guests.

Hunter, 8:07 PM

Verandis peers at the woman. "... if you're worried about paying, don't. It's the first day, everyone gets one drink for free."

Chance, 8:08 PM

Are you new?

Pharolvir, 8:08 PM

"Does that go for rooms too?"

Hunter, 8:09 PM

Verandis: … well, I'd have to ask Ylyndar, but if you need a place to stay for a day or two I'm sure we can argue Kiroth down.

Hunter, 8:10 PM

Verandis: … only one other person has been in all evening, and he just sits in the corner drinking tea. And not even very much tea.

Pharolvir, 8:11 PM

Pharolvir pulls Verandis in for a hug.

Pharolvir, 8:12 PM

"You're good people!"

Hunter, 8:12 PM

He blinks, and pats Pharol on the back, kindly.

Pharolvir, 8:13 PM

Pharolvir will look over at the man Verandis mentioned.

Hunter, 8:13 PM

Verandis: Well, it IS Ylyndar's place, he has very good morals about that kind of thing.

Chance, 8:14 PM

Chance looks directly at guy-in-corner.

Hunter, 8:15 PM

He's seated in the darkest, coziest part of the bar, near the fire but behind the edge of the fireplace, so that the light doesn't fall on him. You can't see much of him other than a dark silhouette and indeed, a teapot and white cup.

???, 8:15 PM

I am fine no drink just trying to get my bearings

Hunter, 8:16 PM

Verandis: I'm not religious myself, but some religions do a lot of good for a lot of people.

Hunter, 8:16 PM

Verandis: Oh, I'm sorry, are you lost? I might be able to dig up a map somewhere...

Hunter, 8:16 PM

The man in the shadows waves, and motions you all over.

???, 8:17 PM

??? heads over

Pharolvir, 8:17 PM

Pharolvir takes his tea and goes over to the man in the corner.

Pharolvir, 8:19 PM

"You found the best place here.  It's so warm and dark and cozy."

Hunter, 8:19 PM

When you get closer, you see that it's an elvish man, with long dark hair pulled into a ponytail, pale skin and dark circles under his eyes..

Chance, 8:19 PM

Chance shrugs and takes his coffee over.

Hunter, 8:20 PM

He's wearing a very plain black suit, a bit shabby, with worn cuffs and elbows. Those of you who are from this area may know that all-black attire is a signifier of an Assassin, a graduate of the elite Academy.

Pharolvir, 8:20 PM

"...I'm not sure I have your shade, but I can maybe use some powders to cover those circles for you.  Make you look a bit fresher."

Hunter, 8:21 PM

He blinks. "Unnecessary, but thank you for your consideration.

Pharolvir, 8:22 PM

"Just helping a guy out."

Hunter, 8:23 PM

Elf: Please, sit.

Chance, 8:23 PM

Chance looks back and forth between them.  He doesn't want to just say that all people without fur look the same, but....

Hunter, 8:23 PM

((All people without fur totally look the same though.))

Chance, 8:23 PM

((They really do.))

???, 8:25 PM

??? will sit but keep a wary eye on everyone especially the tea drinking man

Pharolvir, 8:25 PM

Pharolvir keeps a bit of a distance from the unnamed woman.

Hunter, 8:26 PM

The elf very slowly and carefully refills his own teacup.

Pharolvir, 8:26 PM

"...what's that sort of tea?"

Hunter, 8:26 PM

Elf: Spice tea. Cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper and what I believe is a twist of ginger, which I did not quite expect.

Pharolvir, 8:27 PM

"Oh, that sounds good.  You wanna try some of mine and I'll try some of yours?"

Hunter, 8:28 PM

The man in black eyes Pharolvir, but nods, and slowly slides his teacup across the table to him.

Pharolvir, 8:29 PM

Pharolvir would like to inspect the tea.

Hunter, 8:29 PM

Roll um... perception!

Pharolvir, 8:30 PM

((11))

Chance, 8:30 PM

… you know he is an assassin, yes?

Hunter, 8:31 PM

It has a couple of little black specks in it, which look like leaves. The cinnamon is the sharpest scent, followed by just a bit of the pepper.

Pharolvir, 8:31 PM

"...what?"

Hunter, 8:31 PM

Elf: I don't often put poison in my own tea.

Hunter, 8:32 PM

It's hard to tell, but he may be amused.

Chance, 8:32 PM

That is true, but this fellow lacked the context.

Chance, 8:32 PM

I'm guessing he might be new.

Pharolvir, 8:33 PM

"...potentially.  ...if you don't mind though."

Pharolvir, 8:34 PM

Pharolvir reaches into his satchel and pulls out a small rod, used in alchemy.  He dips it into the tea, stirs, mutters and the rod glows slightly.

Pharolvir, 8:34 PM

Pharolvir taps the cup at the end in a very posh matter, getting the lat drops back in.  Then sips. (I just cast purify food and drink, just in case.)

Hunter, 8:35 PM

Elf: Feel free. There's nothing in it but tea and spices... as far as I know.

Pharolvir, 8:35 PM

"I can do yours, if you're nervous."

Pharolvir, 8:35 PM

"But I am sure it's fine."

Pharolvir, 8:35 PM

Pharolvir smiles.  He seems very proud of himself.

Hunter, 8:36 PM

Elf: No need. I am aware of the tastes of most of the major substances of concern.

Hunter, 8:36 PM

Elf: I was hoping I could obtain your assistance, all of you.

Chance, 8:36 PM

I am listening.

Chance, 8:36 PM

Chance sips his mug.

Pharolvir, 8:37 PM

"I mean...I offered the concealer.  I know a few different looks that'd fit your face well."

???, 8:38 PM

What would an assassin need assistance from strangers for?

Hunter, 8:41 PM

Elf: I feel I already have enough faces. And enough expertise dealing with... specific problems. No, what I lack is time.

Hunter, 8:41 PM

Elf: You have likely already noticed that this building has... unusual properties.

Hunter, 8:42 PM

Elf: Its exact location is indeterminate, and while there are a number of doors that lead in and out of it, there is one door... perhaps two, considering the back door... that poses a minor problem.

Pharolvir, 8:42 PM

"...how so?"

Hunter, 8:44 PM

Elf: The patio has a lovely view of Lake Harriet. Perhaps you noticed it--the window was busy showing it earlier?

Hunter, 8:44 PM

He peers at the window and shakes his head.

Hunter, 8:44 PM

Elf: Ah, no, it's gone back to the view of the Carmina Opera House. Alas. At any rate, Lake Harriet is the problem.

Hunter, 8:45 PM

Elf: While very beautiful and otherwise suitable for boating, fishing, swimming and hiding troublesome objects, it is also haunted, or perhaps possessed.

Pharolvir, 8:45 PM

Pharolvir looks out the window.

Hunter, 8:46 PM

Outside is the sprawling city of Navarre-St. Ben, and you can see the Bells, its largest entertainment district, sprawled out before you. Oddly, the view seems to be at least one story up off the street.

Pharolvir, 8:47 PM

"...or it's a mirror enchanted with some very impressive but easily explained minor illusion magics."

Pharolvir, 8:48 PM

"Maybe even a scrying spell.  Interplanar waypoint seems a reach given how easily we could just walk in."

Hunter, 8:49 PM

Elf: The lake? Or... the building?

Pharolvir, 8:49 PM

"The building.  The haunted lake is decidedly more possible, but even then there are other explanations."

Hunter, 8:51 PM

Elf: I believe it was built by mages.

Chance, 8:52 PM

That explains much.

Pharolvir, 8:52 PM

Pharolvir nods.  "Ok.  ...I'm still not sure I understand why you need us, though."

Hunter, 8:53 PM

Elf: Ah, I do apologize. I would like to hire you to deal with the ghosts, as they arise.

Hunter, 8:53 PM

Elf: The owners of this place are... friends, of a sort, of mine. I would like their little venture to succeed.

Hunter, 8:54 PM

Elf: This will be difficult if they are besieged by a hoard of aquatic warriors every time they try to put the trash out in the morning. Verandis could deal with it himself if he were not a pacifist.

???, 8:54 PM

And what would you pay?

Hunter, 8:55 PM

Elf: A hundred gold a week plus expenses.

Pharolvir, 8:55 PM

"...I would like to check out this lake."

Hunter, 8:56 PM

Are you interested?

???, 8:56 PM

Each or divided?

Pharolvir, 8:57 PM

"I'm in either way, so long as I can stay here."

Hunter, 8:57 PM

Elf: Each. Generosity is one of the few virtues I can afford to possess.

Chance, 8:58 PM

What kind of aquatic warriors?

Hunter, 8:59 PM

Elf: This morning Ylyndar received a nasty wound fending off a band of humanoid fighters with a trash can lid and a broken barbecue fork.

Hunter, 8:59 PM

Elf: When he killed one, it melted into water.

Pharolvir, 9:01 PM

"...I wonder what could be in that water."

Chance, 9:01 PM

Huh, weird.  Probably not pirates then!

Pharolvir, 9:02 PM

"...do you often find pirates in a lake?"

Hunter, 9:02 PM

Elf: It is a rather large lake, to be fair.

Pharolvir, 9:02 PM

"What's your name?"

Chance, 9:03 PM

Chance puts an arm around Pharo's shoulders.  "Pirates are *everywhere*."

Hunter, 9:03 PM

Elf: You may call me Vittorio.

Pharolvir, 9:03 PM

"...when was the last time you cleaned this arm?"

Chance, 9:03 PM

I am very clean.

Pharolvir, 9:04 PM

"Ok, good."

Pharolvir, 9:04 PM

"I don't think I ever got your name, either?"

Chance, 9:04 PM

Ah!  I am Seventh Last Chance!  Freelance adventurer, apparently!

Pharolvir, 9:05 PM

"I'm Pharolvir Tarsyn Elisar of the Elisar family."

Pharolvir, 9:07 PM

"So, Mr. Vittorio, it seems you have some people."

Hunter, 9:07 PM

Vittorio: Excellent. Perhaps you'd like to inspect the body of water in question?

Hunter, 9:07 PM

Did he emphasize the word "body," or was that your imagination?

Pharolvir, 9:08 PM

"I would!"

???, 9:08 PM

Sure why not let’s go take a walk by a haunted lake

Chance, 9:09 PM

Chance nods, and releases Pharo.  "To the lake!  The ancient lake!"

Hunter, 9:10 PM

Vittorio stands and walks over to the door. His feet make no sound against the floor, and he avoids stepping on the rug.

Pharolvir, 9:12 PM

".........was he levitating?  Is that a spell or an effect, you think?"

Chance, 9:12 PM

Maybe he has magic boots.

Pharolvir, 9:12 PM

"I would love to inspect those.  See how the enchantment works."

Chance, 9:12 PM

What do you do?

Pharolvir, 9:13 PM

"Not so much, these days.  But I take a bit of an interest in alchemy and magical tinkering."

Hunter, 9:14 PM

Vitt lays a hand on the door for a moment, and then opens it. A little wind whirls into the bar, carrying a few snowflakes with it.

Pharolvir, 9:14 PM

"...is it snowing again?"

Pharolvir, 9:15 PM

"...what about you?  I've never seen a man quite like you.  Very...rugged."

Chance, 9:15 PM

Chance looks at the woman.  "You are quiet.  What is your deal?"

Hunter, 9:17 PM

Vittorio steps through the door out onto a deck.

Hunter, 9:17 PM

Somehow he seems to have found the one patch of the deck with no snow on it.

???, 9:18 PM

Don’t know  really

???, 9:19 PM

??? walks out onto the deck

Hunter, 9:19 PM

Outside is a beautiful vista--a forest of tall evergreens and graceful white birch trees, covered in soft, new snow, flakes still falling slowly down. You see no signs of other human habitation anywhere, (and this entrance is definitely NOT in the city) but there are stairs that lead closer to the lake below, stairs with about half an inch of snow on them.

Pharolvir, 9:20 PM

Pharolvir will follow.

Hunter, 9:20 PM

The air is cold and crisp and sharp, but the temperature is just barely cool enough to snow, so it's reasonably comfortable out, perhaps more so than expected.

Pharolvir, 9:20 PM

Pharolvir shivers.  "Brrrrrrrr!  It was c-c-c-c-cold enough already."

???, 9:21 PM

??? will head to the edge of the deck and look at the lake

Hunter, 9:22 PM

It really is beautiful, with the remaining ice crusted over with fresh, clean snow and the open water absorbing the still-falling snow.

Chance, 9:24 PM

You must have amnesia!  I will come up with a name for you.

Hunter, 9:24 PM

Roll Perception!

Pharolvir, 9:25 PM

((8!))

Chance, 9:25 PM

(20)

???, 9:26 PM

(( 26))

???, 9:26 PM

What kind of name?

Chance, 9:28 PM

Hmmm.  Ann.  Ann Nesia.

Hunter, 9:28 PM

For a moment everything is very quiet and still.

Pharolvir, 9:29 PM

"...........I'm sure she's capable of naming herself."

Pharolvir, 9:29 PM

Pharolvir starts heading down towards the lake.

???, 9:29 PM

??? heads down as well

Hunter, 9:30 PM

It's not too far, but you do have to be a bit careful with the steps being so full of snow.

Hunter, 9:33 PM

By the time you reach the bottom of the steps, all three of you can see the lakewater rippling in concentric circles.

Hunter, 9:33 PM

And then something bursts out of the lake.

Hunter, 9:33 PM

Initiative, please.

???, 9:34 PM

((7))

Pharolvir, 9:34 PM

((19))

Chance, 9:35 PM

((4))

Hunter, 9:35 PM

Round 1: Pharol, ???, Chance

Hunter, 9:35 PM

**Pharol**

Hunter, 9:36 PM

You can't see what it is yet, there's too much water and it's only half-out of it.

Hunter, 9:36 PM

It definitely doesn't look human, though, and there might be more than one of them.

Pharolvir, 9:37 PM

Pharolvir will duck behind ??? and draw his crossbow.  "Stay back!"

Hunter, 9:38 PM

** ??? **

???, 9:40 PM

??? will seem to remember something , cast shilleagh on the quarter staff and move up to strike at whatever is forming.

Hunter, 9:40 PM

Right!

Hunter, 9:41 PM

** Something **

Hunter, 9:42 PM

Something pops out of the water, charging at you and then passing you, sprinting into the woods behind you! As soon as they clear the water it's very easy to see--they're actually deer, a herd of about a dozen of them, very large, some with impressive antlers and some without, all panting in the wintry air and trying to zip past you into the woods.

Hunter, 9:42 PM

** Chance **

Chance, 9:44 PM

Chance looks at Vittorio.  "We did it.  We got rid of the water deer."

Chance, 9:44 PM

You're welcome.

Pharolvir, 9:44 PM

"Aw...they're so beautiful."

Hunter, 9:44 PM

They are!

Hunter, 9:44 PM

Vittorio frowns, back up on the deck.

Hunter, 9:46 PM

** Thing **

Hunter, 9:46 PM

A massive pair of ears rises from the water, followed by a shaggy grey-white body on four legs, lupine tail following behind. The creature is as big as cart!

Hunter, 9:46 PM

** Round 2: Pharol, ???, Chance, Bad Dog **

Hunter, 9:46 PM

** Pharol **

Pharolvir, 9:46 PM

"...less beautiful."

Pharolvir, 9:47 PM

Pharolvir will shoot his crossbow.

Hunter, 9:47 PM

Roll it!

Pharolvir, 9:47 PM

((17 to hit))

Hunter, 9:48 PM

The animal snarls as the crossbow bolt lands, point digging into its shoulder!

Hunter, 9:48 PM

Roll damage!

Pharolvir, 9:49 PM

((7 damage))

Hunter, 9:49 PM

Nice!

Hunter, 9:49 PM

** ??? **

???, 9:50 PM

??? will move close and strike with her quarterstaff

Hunter, 9:50 PM

Roll attack!

???, 9:50 PM

((21 to hit ))

Hunter, 9:50 PM

That definitely hits!

Hunter, 9:50 PM

Damage?

Hunter, 9:50 PM

(Don't forget Shilla… shille… magic clubbing magic.)

???, 9:51 PM

((14))

Hunter, 9:52 PM

It goes quiet for a moment as you bap it on the head, shocked that anyone would dare.

Hunter, 9:52 PM

** Chance **

Hunter, 9:53 PM

** Chance? **

Pharolvir, 9:53 PM

(( Chance? ))

Chance, 9:54 PM

((Sorry, was looking up my spells.))

Chance, 9:54 PM

Chance will look at the wolf and blast at the ground around its feet with eldritch blast.

Hunter, 9:55 PM

Nice! Roll, uh.. whatever it is you roll for that. I've not played a warlock yet in 5.0.

Hunter, 9:55 PM

Ranged spell attack.

Chance, 9:56 PM

((15!))

Hunter, 9:56 PM

Hit! Roll damage!

Chance, 9:57 PM

((I wasn't trying ot hit the wolf, just blasting at the ground to try and dissuade it.))

Hunter, 9:57 PM

((Oh, gotcha! Roll damage anyway to see how much you DESTROY THE SHORELINE.))

Chance, 9:57 PM

((10!))

Hunter, 9:57 PM

((You erosion-encouraging monster!))

Hunter, 9:58 PM

There's a massive hole in the shoreline near where the wolf stood, and the wolf does indeed shy away!

Hunter, 9:58 PM

** Bad Dog **

Hunter, 9:59 PM

It seems a little bit confused, but lowers itself down into a defensive posture and snaps at ??? with massive jaws!

Hunter, 10:01 PM

It sinks its teeth into her side! 11 damage, unless your AC is higher than 23.

Hunter, 10:01 PM

** Round 3: Pharol, ???, Chance, Bad Dog **

Hunter, 10:01 PM

** Pharol **

???, 10:01 PM

(( no it is not))

???, 10:01 PM

??? is unconscious

Pharolvir, 10:02 PM

"NO!  BAD DOGGO!"

Pharolvir, 10:02 PM

Pharolvir will cast Acid Splash (the dog needs to make a dex save)

Hunter, 10:02 PM

It fails the dex save!

Pharolvir, 10:02 PM

((It takes 6 points of damage.))

Hunter, 10:02 PM

I mean, it's big as a cart, so it's easy to hit.

Hunter, 10:03 PM

It yelps and then snarls!

Pharolvir, 10:03 PM

Pharolvir will then use his movement to move back.

Pharolvir, 10:03 PM

As far as he can.

Hunter, 10:03 PM

** ??? ** is unconscious! Hopefully not bleeding out! I should really look up how that works, I never do remember.

Hunter, 10:04 PM

** Chance **

Chance, 10:04 PM

((Each turn, she has to make a Death save.))

Chance, 10:04 PM

((If she rolls a twenty, like that, she stabilizes))

Hunter, 10:04 PM

Oh, neat! Thanks! Make that death save.

???, 10:04 PM

(( nat 20 on death save))

Chance, 10:05 PM

((I think that puts you at 1 hp.))

Hunter, 10:05 PM

Hey, that's amazing! She stabilizes and is conscious, in that case! Wow. Nice.

Hunter, 10:05 PM

** ??? ** in that case!

Hunter, 10:05 PM

(With Chance on deck.)

???, 10:06 PM

??? will strike at the dog again

Hunter, 10:07 PM

Roll attack!

???, 10:07 PM

((24 to hit ,11 damage))

Hunter, 10:08 PM

You ram your staff straight down onto the nasty thing's forehead, and it falls straight down, head in the crater Chance made, water lapping at its body.

Hunter, 10:08 PM

End initiative!

Hunter, 10:08 PM

Vittorio: Excellent work.

Pharolvir, 10:09 PM

Pharolvir will pick up a stick and go poke it.

Chance, 10:09 PM

Is this a pirate wolf?

Hunter, 10:09 PM

The wolf is poked! It is definitely dead, too.

Pharolvir, 10:10 PM

"..................it's a squishy wolf."

???, 10:10 PM

That is definitely not armed people turning into water.

Pharolvir, 10:11 PM

Pharolvir would like to take his dagger and a vial and try to gather some of the wolf into it.

Hunter, 10:11 PM

A very light snowfall continues to waft down from the sky.

???, 10:12 PM

??? will put a hand on the bite and cast cure wounds

Hunter, 10:12 PM

The wolf is... dissolving as you watch.

Pharolvir, 10:13 PM

Pharolvir tries to catch some in the vial!

Hunter, 10:13 PM

He can do that, but he does get some wolf blood on his hands. Which then also dissolves into water.

Hunter, 10:13 PM

Roll for it, ???!

Pharolvir, 10:13 PM

"..........ok...so that's...I don't think that's ghosts."

Hunter, 10:14 PM

Pretty quickly the wolf, apart from the vial of wolfmelt Pharol has, is gone.

Hunter, 10:14 PM

Vittorio: It does appear to be somewhat unusual.

???, 10:14 PM

((7hp regained ))

Hunter, 10:15 PM

Nice!

Hunter, 10:15 PM

You're all standing outside in the snow.

Pharolvir, 10:15 PM

"...I can maybe run some tests.  I haven't set up a lab yet, but I can see what I can do."

Hunter, 10:15 PM

Vittorio nods, and heads back indoors.

Pharolvir, 10:17 PM

Pharolvir heads back in.  "I don't even have supplies for a real lab though.  I didn't prepare.  Ugh."

???, 10:17 PM

??? looks at the forest for a minute then follows the others in

Chance, 10:19 PM

Maybe the lake is mad at you.

Hunter, 10:19 PM

You head back in! Oddly, Vittorio isn't there.

Pharolvir, 10:19 PM

"...........hello?"

Chance, 10:19 PM

I suppose the deer were also water.

Hunter, 10:19 PM

However, there are three smallish bags on the table where he was sitting earlier in the evening.

Hunter, 10:20 PM

Verandis is still there at the bar, sipping a cup of something with steam coming from it.

Pharolvir, 10:21 PM

Pharolvir checks one of the bags.

Chance, 10:21 PM

Chance sniffs at the bag!

Chance, 10:21 PM

I suppose we should get rooms!  Since we are gainfully employed now!

Pharolvir, 10:22 PM

Pharolvir will pull a ring out of the bag.

???, 10:23 PM

??? will check the last bag

Hunter, 10:23 PM

The bag smells like tea!

Pharolvir, 10:24 PM

Pharolvir takes a tool from his satchel and begins tapping the ring.

Pharolvir, 10:24 PM

"Huh...interesting."

Pharolvir, 10:25 PM

"...I like this place."

Chance, 10:25 PM

Strange rings.  What do you suppose they are?

Hunter, 10:27 PM

The door swings open and a more cat-sized cat saunters in, though he is kind of a chonk. He's got short fur, with a visible black collar and also-visible pale gray, incredibly-soft-looking wings.

Hunter, 10:28 PM

The cat looks down at the rug, glowers at it, and launches himself into the air to flap over it.

Pharolvir, 10:28 PM

"Aaaaaaaaaah!  He's so cute!"

Hunter, 10:29 PM

The kitty, hearing this, saunters over to Pharolvir and mews sweetly.

Pharolvir, 10:30 PM

Pharolvir picks him up and gives pets.

Hunter, 10:31 PM

The kitty purrs, and then his collar flickers as he says "Yeah, that's the ticket, right around this ***ing collar. ***ing thing works or I'd shove it right down Tython's ****ing face!"

Pharolvir, 10:33 PM

"GAH!"

Pharolvir, 10:34 PM

Pharolvir drops the cat.

Hunter, 10:34 PM

The cat yowls , but breaks his fall by flapping a little bit.

Hunter, 10:35 PM

Kitty: Hey, what the **** was that for? I oughtta rip your face off and feed it to my ****ing kittens!

Pharolvir, 10:35 PM

"...you are not a nice kitty."

Chance, 10:35 PM

Have you met cats before?

Hunter, 10:35 PM

Kitty, smugly: That's what she said.

???, 10:35 PM

I think you startled him

Chance, 10:35 PM

Anyway, that's not a cat.

Chance, 10:35 PM

No more than I am.

Hunter, 10:36 PM

Verandis rubs his forehead with two fingers. "Vargas, these are the only customers we've had all day. Please be nice to them."

Hunter, 10:37 PM

Vargas the kitty: I was nice! I haven't even clawed anybody yet!

Pharolvir, 10:37 PM

"The above world is weird."

???, 10:38 PM

This day seems weird even without much to compare it to.

Hunter, 10:39 PM

Verandis: … yet?

Hunter, 10:39 PM

Vargas: The night is young, ass-face.

Hunter, 10:40 PM

Verandis shakes his head. "You do remember I'm technically one of your employers, right?"

Hunter, 10:40 PM

The bartender picks up the black pitcher again and pours Vargas a bowl of something white.

Pharolvir, 10:40 PM

"I will not be spoken down to by winged hairball."

Hunter, 10:41 PM

Vargas: Well I could talk up to you if you want, ya painted maypole.

Pharolvir, 10:42 PM

Pharolvir will cast mage hand and jerk the cats bowl away as he's about to drink from it.

Chance, 10:43 PM

Oh dear.

Hunter, 10:43 PM

Vargas snarls and turns to aim a kitty death-glare at Pharolvir.

Hunter, 10:43 PM

He has one blue eye and one gold eye.

Pharolvir, 10:44 PM

Pharolvir makes a glare right back at him.

Hunter, 10:44 PM

Vargas: You will ****ing pay for that.

Pharolvir, 10:46 PM

"Thank you for the room, Verandis."

???, 10:46 PM

??? will go move the bowl back.

Hunter, 10:46 PM

Vargas: Smart move, girly.

Hunter, 10:47 PM

He goes to drink his … whatever that is, probably a White Russian, frankly, and the door to the outside bursts open again.

Hunter, 10:47 PM

A whole crowd of people stream through the door, which seems to be open from the city entrance this time. A lot of these people are drunk, a few of them are semi-clothed, at least two are singing and they all look pretty happy.

Hunter, 10:49 PM

Verandis: … looks like Shihan came through after all.

Pharolvir, 10:49 PM

Pharolvir brushes back his gorgeous hair.

Hunter, 10:49 PM

He starts taking drinks orders from the abruptly-growing crowd.

Hunter, 10:49 PM

Roll perception!

Pharolvir, 10:49 PM

"How can they dress like that in this cold?"

Pharolvir, 10:49 PM

((9!))

???, 10:49 PM

((22))

???, 10:50 PM

It’s not that cold out

Chance, 10:51 PM

Not at all!

Chance, 10:51 PM

Chance orders more coffee and ruins it like he did before, then goes to mingle!

Hunter, 10:52 PM

You all see that there seem to be two hubs to the madness--one is a dark-haired elven man with a ponytail, some expensive-looking silver jewelry and a wine-stained burgundy shirt, who appears to be very, very drugged out indeed.

Hunter, 10:53 PM

The other one, who is earnestly talking to the very high elf, is a Drow man with untidy, curly hair and a very expensive, extremely fashionable-looking suit in the latest style.

Pharolvir, 10:53 PM

"Who is Shihan and what was he coming through with?"

Hunter, 10:55 PM

The Drow Guy: Hmm? What? Did someone call my name?

Pharolvir, 10:55 PM

"...hi."

Pharolvir, 10:55 PM

Pharolvir looks him up and down like he's seen an alien for the first time.

Hunter, 10:56 PM

He has pretty much the same expression as Pharolvir and does pretty much the same thing.

Hunter, 10:56 PM

Shihan: … well, that's different.

Pharolvir, 10:57 PM

"...I'm Pharolvir Tarsyn Elisar of the Elisar Family."

Pharolvir, 10:57 PM

Pharolvir curtseys.  "A pleasure...I think."

Hunter, 10:58 PM

Shihan: I'm Shihan, nice to meet you! You don't see a lot of Drow up here.

Hunter, 10:59 PM

The very high high elf turns and looks at Pharolvir, and while this is another up-and-down look, it's more of an undressing-with-the-eyes style of thing.

Pharolvir, 11:00 PM

"You're the first I've seen up here.  I can't say I was expecting it.  And certainly not...one like yourself."

Hunter, 11:01 PM

Shihan: I am not totally sure what that means.

Hunter, 11:02 PM

The high high elf turns to Shihan. "He's cute. Right?"

Pharolvir, 11:03 PM

"Oh thank you.  It's not that complicated a look.  I could teach you if you need it ."

Hunter, 11:05 PM

Very-High High Elf: Teaching wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

???, 11:06 PM

??? will go over tot he bar and order something someone else ordered and rejoin the group.

Pharolvir, 11:06 PM

"I'm still not quite sure what the fashions are up here.  It seems...very different to what I know.

Pharolvir, 11:06 PM

Pharolvir does not seem to register what the High High Elf is putting down.

Hunter, 11:07 PM

Shihan: I don't think you're his type, Ulisse.

Hunter, 11:07 PM

Ulisse: Nonsense, nonsense! Everybody's my type!

Pharolvir, 11:08 PM

".........ah, I think I see what's going on here.  I'm not really a...man's man in that sense.  But I am glad you noticed the effort."

Hunter, 11:08 PM

Ulisse: That's a shame! But fair enough, fair enough. There are more seas in the fishes.

Hunter, 11:09 PM

Ulisse turns to ??? and looks at her blearily. "... are you all right?"

???, 11:11 PM

... I am fine? You seem a little shaky though

Pharolvir, 11:11 PM

Pharolvir finds Chance.  "...I need some help here.  How would you say I'm dressed?"

Hunter, 11:11 PM

Ulisse: No, no, you're missing something. Missing.

Hunter, 11:12 PM

Shihan frowns at him.

???, 11:12 PM

How can you tell that?

Hunter, 11:15 PM

Ulisse stares at her.

Chance, 11:15 PM

Chance looks blankly at Pharo.

Hunter, 11:16 PM

Ulisse: You are missing... you.

???, 11:17 PM

Yeah happened earlier today, still someone in here though

Chance, 11:18 PM

Her name is Ann Nesia.

???, 11:18 PM

We never agreed on that

Hunter, 11:19 PM

Ulisse: You're in there somewhere. Don't worry.

Pharolvir, 11:19 PM

"...is this also flirting up here?  ...if so, I don't get it."

Hunter, 11:19 PM

Ulisse pats ??? on the shoulder consolingly. It is not the least bit flirtatious.

Hunter, 11:20 PM

Shihan: No, I think he's just on... something.

Chance, 11:20 PM

All the things.

Hunter, 11:20 PM

Ulisse nods. "It was green."

???, 11:20 PM

Absentia

Hunter, 11:20 PM

Ulisse: Not tonight, not tonight. Too much work to do.

Chance, 11:21 PM

Chance looks at Pharo.  "You are not dressed like someone expecting the weather up here."

Pharolvir, 11:21 PM

"...does he have a sister to watch him?"

Hunter, 11:21 PM

Shihan snorts. "You've never worked a day in your life, Ulisse."

Hunter, 11:22 PM

Ulisse eyes Pharolvir unsteadily, and starts to laugh.

Pharolvir, 11:22 PM

((Could I potentially figure out what he's on?))

Hunter, 11:23 PM

Quite possibly!

Hunter, 11:23 PM

Roll me a perception first.

Pharolvir, 11:23 PM

((Natural 1.  3 total.  Pharo's not very perceptive.))

Hunter, 11:24 PM

Roll um... alchemy would fall under what? Arcana probably?

Pharolvir, 11:24 PM

((Good, I know arcana))

Pharolvir, 11:24 PM

((...or maybe I don't.  11.))

Chance, 11:24 PM

Chance sips his uncoffee and looks around the room.

Hunter, 11:25 PM

It's probably a couple of different things, and a whole lot of alcohol.

Hunter, 11:25 PM

The room is full of people!

Chance, 11:25 PM

((All the drugs.))

Hunter, 11:26 PM

Chance sees Vargas being petted by a bunch of pretty partially-clothed people, and he's purring his little heart out.

Pharolvir, 11:26 PM

"...I think maybe he got a bad mix."

Chance, 11:26 PM

Where did you guys come from?

Hunter, 11:26 PM

Ulisse: Nonsense, I am fine. Fiiiiiiiine. Fine. Finefinefine. Fine.

???, 11:26 PM

Yeah your group was pretty drunk already

Hunter, 11:27 PM

Shihan: I'm not sure, I met them outside the door.

Pharolvir, 11:27 PM

"You know, at first I wasn't convinced, but the fifth 'fine' sold me."

???, 11:27 PM

??? looks at Ulisse “where did you go before here”

Hunter, 11:28 PM

Ulisse: The Potted Panda. The Leopard's Spots.

???, 11:29 PM

Yeah I have no clue if he is making those up or not

Hunter, 11:29 PM

Ulisse: It's funny, isn't it? You're missing pieces and I have too many.

Chance, 11:29 PM

Those your friends clustered around the Tressym?

Hunter, 11:29 PM

Shihan: He's not. … they're both bloody awful places, though.

Hunter, 11:30 PM

Ulisse: Everyone is my friend. But nobody is Ulisse's friend.

???, 11:30 PM

((24))

Chance, 11:30 PM

((22))

Pharolvir, 11:30 PM

((Hey, nat 20.  22 total.))

Hunter, 11:31 PM

Nice! All three of you realize that Ulisse is going to pass out. What do you do?

???, 11:31 PM

??? finds a chair to sit him on

Pharolvir, 11:31 PM

Pharolvir will try and check his vitals...I guess.

Pharolvir, 11:33 PM

((I can make a medicine check if need be, although it's not my specialty.  Shame the arcana check whiffed.))

Hunter, 11:34 PM

Go for it!

Pharolvir, 11:34 PM

((Not much better. 12.))

Hunter, 11:34 PM

Shihan catches him as he falls, ??? brings him a chair and Pharol checks his vitals.

Pharolvir, 11:35 PM

"Did you see what he took, by any chance?"

Hunter, 11:35 PM

Shihan: No idea. Like I said, I met him just outside the door with his... party.

Chance, 11:36 PM

Chance looks over at the party.

Chance, 11:36 PM

Hey!

Chance, 11:36 PM

What was this guy on?

Pharolvir, 11:36 PM

"I think he's ok.  Last drink just went to his head, I guess."

Hunter, 11:36 PM

Roll Persuasion, Chance!

Chance, 11:37 PM

((I'm actually good at the skill, but only got an 11.))

Hunter, 11:37 PM

Shihan shakes his head. "I'll bring him to a room. Somebody should stay with him."

Hunter, 11:38 PM

Chance gets a couple of answers, but they all amount to "I don't know" and "I didn't see him take anything, but he drank a lot."

Pharolvir, 11:38 PM

"...I'm not much for parties anyway and maybe I can do some tests on this magic water in the meantime.  So...I can watch him."

Hunter, 11:39 PM

Shihan: Are you sure? I could get Ylyndar if I have to, but... they're not friends.

Pharolvir, 11:40 PM

"...I mean...I'm not his friend either.  I met him earlier today."

Hunter, 11:40 PM

Shihan: … they almost killed each other in a duel once.

???, 11:40 PM

I’ll join you so if you need to run out someone can keep an eye on him.

Chance, 11:41 PM

Who hasn't.

???, 11:41 PM

As far as I know me

Chance, 11:41 PM

As far as you know, Ann.

Hunter, 11:41 PM

Shihan: Well, I haven't.

Pharolvir, 11:41 PM

"I have never been in a duel.  And my people do like duels."

Chance, 11:42 PM

Well, this is a wakeup call.  Apparently I live my life in such a way that people want to duel me a lot.

Pharolvir, 11:42 PM

"I believe it."

Hunter, 11:43 PM

Shihan: All right. I don't think he'd want me there either, honestly. I owe you. The last thing we need is the incredibly wealthy scion of the city's most prominent family to die under suspicious circumstances here. … also, he might be an asshole, but he's always been good to me.

Hunter, 11:43 PM

Shihan: Follow me.

Pharolvir, 11:44 PM

"..............wait, what?"

Hunter, 11:44 PM

Shihan leads you to another wing of the inn, carrying his friend. "What, what?"

Hunter, 11:45 PM

There are a couple flights of steps, but eventually he opens the door to the suite on the top floor of the inn. It's very large, with a whole bunch of bedrooms, its own dining and living rooms and a ton of fancy looking furniture and accoutrements.

Chance, 11:45 PM

Probably the wealthy scion part.

Pharolvir, 11:45 PM

"Yes, that bit."

Hunter, 11:46 PM

Shihan: He's a d'Amici, they all have money. Sometimes I think it would be better if Ulisse didn't.

Pharolvir, 11:47 PM

"He's a member of an illustrious family and he goes around getting wasted and flirting like a wanton slut.  ...is that normal up here?  My family would've killed me if I did that."

Hunter, 11:48 PM

Shihan: He's a whole magazine of issues.

Hunter, 11:49 PM

Shihan sets Ulisse down on the bed in the master suite.

Chance, 11:50 PM

Money buys a lot of latitude.

Pharolvir, 11:50 PM

".......huh."

Hunter, 11:51 PM

He pulls his friend's boots off. One of the socks is missing already.

Pharolvir, 11:51 PM

"You seem to be a good friend to him."

Pharolvir, 11:51 PM

You're putting a lot of effort into keeping him comfortable."

Hunter, 11:52 PM

Shihan: He doesn't really have friends.

Hunter, 11:53 PM

Shihan: All right, I need to go find Ylyndar and make sure my brothers aren't drowning in the crowd down there. I'll come back to check on him later.

???, 11:53 PM

We will keep an eye on him.

Pharolvir, 11:53 PM

"Right."

Pharolvir, 11:55 PM

"You staying too, Chance?"

Hunter, 11:55 PM

Shihan looks at Ulisse, shakes his head, and heads out!

Chance, 11:55 PM

For now.  I reserve the right to leave if he soils himself.

Pharolvir, 11:55 PM

"If you think I'm cleaning that up, you have another thing coming."

Chance, 11:56 PM

What do you suppose these rings are?

Pharolvir, 11:57 PM

"They're not magic.  Maybe a symbol?"

???, 11:57 PM

Probably something related to vittorio

Chance, 11:57 PM

An emblem of a house or something.  Not sure why he'd give them to us.

Pharolvir, 11:58 PM

"They seem to be something akin to a contract.  I imagine our job's not done."

Pharolvir, 11:58 PM

"Once I have a minute to properly set up, I really want to investigate this water."

???, 11:59 PM

Yeah it really didn’t feel like water when it bit into me.

Pharolvir, 11:59 PM

"Micro-organisms maybe.  Or some sort of evocation enchantment."

Pharolvir, 12:00 AM

"Perhaps there is a being within the lake."

???, 12:01 AM

Well if you point me at it I will go whack it with a stick.

Chance, 12:01 AM

Maybe the lake is angry.

Pharolvir, 12:02 AM

Pharolvir snickers.  "Your arcane analysis is truly something to behold."

???, 12:03 AM

I wonder if the deer stayed solid

Chance, 12:03 AM

1+2=WATER DOG THAT TRIED TO EAT ANN.

Pharolvir, 12:04 AM

"...do you have a name?  It's ok if you don't."

Pharolvir, 12:04 AM

"It'd just be easier to be able to refer to you, somehow."

???, 12:05 AM

first thing I remember is walking into this building with you

???, 12:06 AM

I guess we can go with Ann

Pharolvir, 12:07 AM

Pharolvir nods.  "...it's weird.  Nobody up here's really who I expected them to be...except you.  And you don't even know who you are."

Chance, 12:07 AM

What were you expecting?

Pharolvir, 12:09 AM

"...if I say, you promise not to be offended?  My people in the underdark...they have some very poor views of people above the surface."

Chance, 12:09 AM

I am hard to offend!

Pharolvir, 12:10 AM

"...my expectation was of a world of warrior brutes with stupid, unrefined men unable to do basic chores and strong, filthy women who would grab young men and rape them."

Chance, 12:11 AM

Wow.

Chance, 12:11 AM

I am super offended.

Pharolvir, 12:11 AM

((Unless Hunter tells me I'd believe something else, but I think this was roughly what she suggested drow thought way back when. :) ))

Pharolvir, 12:12 AM

"I'm really sorry.  I am still getting some real culture shock, but it's certainly not a bunch of stupid barbarians."

Chance, 12:13 AM

Oh, there are plenty of those, still, don't worry.

Pharolvir, 12:13 AM

"........greeeeeeeaaaaaaattttttt."

Pharolvir, 12:14 AM

Pharolvir looks over at Ulisee.

Pharolvir, 12:14 AM

"He seems peaceful."

???, 12:15 AM

Which is surprising with the mix of things that must be in his system.

Pharolvir, 12:15 AM

Pharolvir nods.

Pharolvir, 12:19 AM

"How'd you get here, Seventh Last Chance?"

Chance, 12:20 AM

I walked.  That's a weird question!

Chance, 12:20 AM

I thought I'd come into town to make some money.

Pharolvir, 12:21 AM

"Interesting way to do it."

Chance, 12:22 AM

So far so good!

Chance, 12:22 AM

I've made 100 gold.

Pharolvir, 12:23 AM

True.

Pharolvir, 12:25 AM

"I suppose it is a way for a powerful sorcerer to make money."

???, 12:26 AM

Or anyone

???, 12:27 AM

I would expect powerful sorcerers would have easier ways of making money

Chance, 12:27 AM

…. seriously, I walked in here, shot at a wolf, and made 100 gold.  HOw much easier do you want to make 100 gold?

???, 12:27 AM

Maybe not getting almost eaten by said wolf

Pharolvir, 12:28 AM

"It almost ate Ann.  And you missed.  I'd call your performance more lucky than anything."

???, 12:28 AM

To be fair maybe that happens to me a lot

Chance, 12:28 AM

I was trying to scare it away, I thought it might have been a real wolf.

???, 12:29 AM

Just going for an evening swim? With a herd of deer?

Chance, 12:29 AM

Wolves can swim.    Maybe he chased them into the water.

Pharolvir, 12:31 AM

"The deer was an odd choice from the lake to attack us.  Unless they were actual deer which seems unlikely."

Chance, 12:31 AM

I don't know much about the psychology of lakes.

???, 12:31 AM

Some hunter is going to be very dissapointed

Pharolvir, 12:34 AM

"...can I ask a potentially stupid question?"

Chance, 12:34 AM

Probably!

Pharolvir, 12:35 AM

"...is it normal for men to do magic like that on the surface?"

Chance, 12:35 AM

Oh, sure.

Chance, 12:35 AM

Chance uses Minor Illusion to make a rainbow between his hands.  "Maaaaagic."

Pharolvir, 12:36 AM

"......"

Chance, 12:39 AM

Glad I could help!
